WANT SOMETHING LOVELY to cap off your lunchtime? Here it is.
Ten-year-old Kaylee Rodgers is a pupil of Killard House Special School in Donaghdee, Co Down, and performed a cover of Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah with her classmates for their Christmas show.
She has autism and ADHD, and her principal Colin Millar told UTV that performing has helped her come out of her shell.
For a child who came in P4 (2nd Class) and wouldn’t really talk, wouldn’t really read out in class, to stand in front of an audience is amazing. It takes a lot of effort on Kaylee’s part.
A video of the cover was posted on Facebook by the mother of one of Kaylee’s classmates – it’s been viewed 180,000 times so far, and seen by people as far off as New Zealand and Canada.

Kaylee herself is delighted with the popularity of the video, telling UTV she feels very “happy and excited” when she sings:
It was really amazing how many views I got. I just loved doing it.
